Col. Michelle M. Williams

Col. Michelle M. Williams assumed duties as the U.S. Army Financial Management Command commander on June 18, 2024, after most recently serving as the U.S. Army Finance and Comptroller School commandant and Chief of the Finance Corps.

In her role, Williams ensures USAFMCOM enables the readiness of America’s Army by serving as the Army’s focal point for all finance and comptroller operations while providing capabilities that facilitate accountability, auditability and stewardship.

Williams is a native of St. Louis and received a Regular Army commission into the Finance Corps in 1999 as a distinguished military graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology’s Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program. She holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Florida Institute of Technology, a Master of Policy Management from Georgetown University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Army War College.

Her military education includes Airborne School, Finance Officer Basic Course, Finance Captains Career Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Intermediate Level Education, and the Army War College.

Williams' former assignments include 3rd Soldier Support Battalion Headquarters and Headquarters Company disbursing officer, Fort Stewart, Georgia; 3rd SSB (Forward) Alpha Company cash control officer, Tuzla, Bosnia; 3rd SSB Charlie Company executive officer; 3rd SSB Charlie Company commander, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia; 208th Finance Battalion Alpha Detachment commander, Mannheim, Germany and Baghdad, Iraq; 266th Finance Command executive officer, Schwetzingen, Germany; Joint Chiefs of Staff Force Structure, Resources and Assessment (J8) intern, the Pentagon, Washington; Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management and Comptroller strategic planner and executive officer for the Military Deputy for Budget, the Pentagon; U.S. Southern Command Resource Management (J8) deputy comptroller, Miami; U.S. Army Central (Forward) Resource Management (G8) budget officer, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; ASA (FM&C) Army Budget Office congressional budget liaison officer, the Pentagon; 4th Infantry Division division G8 (comptroller), Fort Carson, Colorado; ASA (FM&C) Army Congressional Budget Liaison chief, the Pentagon; XVIII Airborne Corps corps G8, Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

She is also awarded the Army Staff Badge and Joint Staff Badge.
